About this app
What’s online banking without a mobile app?
With the AIB Mobile on your phone you have access to:
- View up to 2 accounts without logging in: press that Quick Balance button!
- Share your IBAN & account details
- View & export up to 7 years of statements
- Report your card if it is lost or stolen (it happens!)
- Freeze/Unfreeze your card
- Reset your PAC or recover your Registration Number (it's hard to remember everything!)
- View & cancel your Direct Debits and Standing Orders
- Apply for Personal Loans while on the go
- And much more...
To use the app you need to be registered for AIB Phone and Internet Banking.
The app needs the following permissions to work on your phone:
- Identity/Contacts – we need the device name so you can unregister (ie. remotely wipe the app) from AIB Internet or Tablet Banking
- Phone - so you can call our help or product numbers directly from the app
- Device ID & call information - to read phone status and identity
- Calendar - so you can add reminders to your calendar when serving notice on Online Notice Deposit savings accounts

not great. used to be good enough last year. but over last few months it freezes at login, takes forever to load up and then once you finally get in after many attempts it crashes when you try to make a payment. hopefully the update which I installed today will make a difference.

3DS authentication often doesnt appear - 8 times out of 10 it doesnt appear leaving me in limbo trying to complete my online purchase. When it does appear, it doesnt always work either so I'm not sure if payment has been taken or not. Logging in is a continuous issue, security check complete, but its not, then it tells me to update app, which i do, but that doesnt fix the issue either. Very poor. Would score less than 1 if I could. No wonder customers in Ireland are jumping ship to Revolut!!

I thought the Log Out button would be ideally convenience on the right top corner in the previous version of this app rather than hidden inside the Menu on the top left, this mean, you have to press one more step and I don't think this will encourage user to press the log out button once you done your business. I would recommend if you can put the alert notification on each transaction that you make.

Unreliable. Often doesn't want to initialize the app properly, depending on the state of AIB's servers, which prevents entering the login page or even quick-checking balance via an infinite loop, amongst other core issues. This has happened numerous times. Yes, the app is up to date. During these periods, you are literally clueless as to what your balance is. For banking, the networking and implementation of this app is in a frankly appalling state.

This is the worst banking app I have ever used. Login: Most times it takes me as long as 5 mins to log in. For no reason, the app will get stuck and repeat the same login process up to 16 times. Payees: You can't add 'overseas' payees, so if you live in the North of Ireland like me, you have to manually enter your details every. single time. you want to send yourself money. Arbitrary pay limits: Some days you can send €1000/day, other days it'll be only €250, for no reason! Fix it!

Terrible app. This is the second time it has stopped working for both me and my wife. Numerous re-installs and re-starting the phone and it still won't get past a security update. I swear I'd leave the bank if I thought BOI were any better. We mostly use Revolut anyway but for some things you need an Irish bank and we're stuck with this nonsense.
