About this app

The “Travel Phrasebook” app has many useful foreign phrases and words (e.g., “Thank you!”, “How much?” or “A table for two, please!”). When you tap a phrase, the app speaks it aloud. There is no guessing as to how to pronounce the words. And if the app is talking too quickly for you, simply tap the snail icon to hear the words more slowly. Listen to pronunciation recorded by native speaker and then record and play back your own voice to practice your foreign language speaking skills!

When traveling to foreign countries, make sure you bring the app with you! Ideally you listen to a phrase and repeat it, but if your accent is terrible, you can play the voice on the app to local people (e.g., a waiter or store clerk). Language barrier while travelling abroad will no longer exist!

This app has basic phrases and vocabulary, written and spoken for about a dozen languages. The text is large and easy to read. Ads are unobtrusive but you can upgrade the language of your choice to ad-free for a nominal cost or upgrade the whole pack at a substantial discount. I upgraded immediately. Upgrading also gives the app offline functionality. Very convenient for travelers. The only thing I'd want to improve is to have more examples so I could completely toss my paperback phrasebook.

Would be so useful if it actually taught you the polite versions first. (Or at all, in some cases). Being respectful is incredibly important in some cultures and this app can leave you sounding like a rude foreigner. No good. And in some cases it only teaches you the polite version. Which is usually fine, but so inconsistent. It would be really useful to have a basic travel phrasebook app like this. So I hope they improve it.

I used this for my trip to the Netherlands. So useful for travel. I like it much better than the popular language apps. Most of my travels just need a few phrases, not a deep understanding of the structure of a language. This great for all your needs as a tourist.

not bad...could have a few more phrases here and there but to sort of pass by with the basics, it's ideal. audio quality for many of the voices is very robotic. more authentic sounding voices would definitely improve the overall experience.

Great app , it has all the basics needed to get by in a new language. This app is actually more helpful than many language apps available in the app store. I appreciate the large list of word categories available in the languages. I would like more languages in the list - specifically -> classical Latin, Sicilian , Quebecois french & Punjabi

Awesome app. Duolingo etc is great for learning the language but this will help you find the proper phrase which is hard if your not fluent and practiced in conversations. I usually understand all the words but the correct phrase just doesn't pop out of my mind on demand yet
