About this app

Virustotal Mobile checks the applications installed in your Android phone against virustotal (http://www.virustotal.com). It will inform you about malware (virus, trojans, worms) on your phone and allows you to upload any unknown applications to Virustotal. In other words, Virustotal for Android will get your applications scanned by more than 50 antivirus, flagging any undesired content.
Please note that virustotal for Android does not provide real-time protection and, so, is no substitute for any antivirus product, just a second opinion regarding your apps.

In this new version, in addition to analyzing all installed applications and to upload them if they are not in Virustotal, any file or url can be analyzed either from the application itself or another application.

Also it has a statistics section where you can see a count of all scanned files and those infected applications, files or urls that virustotal has detected through your uploaded.

Best detection I've ever seen! I've used countless antivirus apps over the years and this is WAY more useful! Ended up uninstalling a flagged app after my first scan! There's no more hogging up background resources, no more "pro" pings and no more forcing ads on you! 😎 Also, please read the description people! It's a awesone start, needs to have a few features added especially the ones that are implied but not actually implemented yet; like the ability to go straight to the report URL in a your default browser when you tap on the notification saying that a file you submitted has finished being scanned , instead of just taking you back to the app page. or at least have a tap to copy version of the report URL on the app page so you can paste it into a browser yourself. really great though!!!

I like virus total, it has a lot of features for identifying app permissions and Trojans. The only problem I have with it is that the file scan feature doesn't work at all, I'd like to be able to scan downloaded apk files before I install them to my device but the feature doesn't work so I can't scan the file before downloading, that kinda socks tbh.

The app only scans your device. No options to scan urls or files. No explanations of results or anything really. Unless you're a computer person, you don't know what you're looking at when you get the results of a scan. They could at least make it friendly to the average Joe. All it does is scare you when you see that something came back positive and there's no option to delete a malicious file or take care of it. Step up your app Virus Total!

Does what it says but the usability is poor (for example there seems to be no way to select multiple apps for upload instead of selecting individually). The most frustrating thing however is that there still is no progress indication whatsoever after selecting upload for an app. There must be an upload queue but it's hidden to the user, so you don't know if an app has already been uploaded, andGod knows when (or if, as many apps remain unchecked even weeks later) a result will be received.

It's good and bad. A virus scanner not having a scan progress indicator is horrible. I have never seen this before on any Windows antivirus. It would be fine if the scan always worked. But I assume they removed the progress indicator because about 80% of the time the scan just stops. You don't know why it stopped. When the scan works it's great and found a few potential virus apps. But for the last week the scan has made my phone so hot it hurts to touch it and it starts smelling burnt.
