While this isn't my most used app, it is very well done towards learning Japanese. There are structured lessons that not only teach language but also history and culture. It'll take a little time to get used to the UI, but once you play around with it, it becomes easy to navigate. What you study goes into an SRS, but via lessons and other areas, you can requiz often (and it's very customizable). There is also an app companion JA audiobook. Well worth the price for lifetime! Website integrated.

If I could give a million stars I would! This app has everything! I can build my own vocab. lists, use the space repetition testing, learn kana and kanji, read, listen, speak, take quizzes, grammar... The app really is a Sensei! I ended up buying the Unlimited Samurai access and my mind is blown away by how much content there is available. It's great for both, a complete beginner as well as advanced student. Huge thumbs up to the creator, it's perfect and THANK YOU for your amazing work!!!!!

10 years later, I still love learning with this app. I had an issue once many, many years ago, and the developer was great with restoring all my learning credits. I'm still learning more and now I read JA Audiobook with my children! I highly recommend if you're testing for JLPTs! It's easy to study and make lists according to the N level you're on.

Wow, I wish I'd downloaded this first when I started learning Japanese! All the grammar and syntax and such are laid out where I can easily read them and take a quick quiz, instead of having to listen to someone explain things or watch a video. That really helps me to process at my own pace! Still a little fuzzy about what to do with "points," and a little overwhelmed by the sheer number of things to explore, but overall, I'm impressed!

I've been using this app for about 2 years as my primary means of learning Japanese, and it has been fantastic. I am able to read manga now, such as Super Mario kun, Dragonball, and Ushio to Tora, thanks to this app. The only thing I can think of that might make this app better would be a section on common abbreviations, contractions, and differences in dialects.

I've been watching the development of this for years. Its solid design, impressively comprehensive, and useful without having to make purchases. The donation based membership cost provides functions that need server support only, and its the work of (as far as I know) one man. If you are serious about learning Japanese, it is the singular source you need to pass all proficiency exam levels.
