this is the third time i've downloaded this game, & it's a delight every time. i love the style, the sounds; the gameplay is fun but simple & forgiving. & the best part? the ads are SUPER avoidable; yeah, watching the ads will get you farther faster, but they're not in your face or annoying even if you use them. this is NOT a pay-to-win game, & for that, i'll love it forever. edit: they made it BETTER?? i LOVE the new features so much!! downloaded a fourth time!

ITS SOOOOO AMAZING!!!!!!!! but a problem- I made a small disco and then clicked out of the game but when I clicked back in everything restarted. I was so close to getting the polar area only about 70,000 more to go but it restarted and usually when both me and my brother have a game we compete to see who's better I was better and I used to help him but now I can't cuz everything is gone! T∆T

It's a fun casual game, but there are a few things that hamper the gameplay. As you collect animals, you earn DiscoBux, which you can spend on items, use to extend your guesses with the animal game, or use to throw a disco. However, the ones you earn by collecting animals go into a piggy bank that you have to pay to access. You can occasionally earn them from other activities, but it's rare. It would absolutely pay for an ad-free version that just let you play, without the in-app purchases.

Simple yet very well-made and fun! It's also one of the few free apps that are REALLY free; you're never overly pressured to make in-game purchases, nor are you missing out on any content. I love playing this in my free time; it's great for all ages. EDIT: I reinstalled the game on my new phone nearly 6 years later after my first review, and it's still just as entertaining and satisfying to play. One of my favorites.

Updates have pros and cons. The pet adoption thing has an unfinished feel. There's not a way to improve the pets' grade, and the only reward you get is more slots to adopt more pets that do nothing? Also, while the ads are optional, we used to be able to exit them sooner. It doesn't matter how many minutes I spend watching Hungryroot ads, I'm never going to be able to afford it. Exiting the ad after 5 or even 10 seconds would be preferable to the 60 they make you sit through.

My only complaint is that it seems that when searching for animals - if there is a disco buck it will always be in the last 5 tiles you search (read: watch 3 ads). From a game and company that has always handled micro-transactions and monetization gracefully this just seems dirty and dissapointing. Otherwise great game. Would give 5 stars if proven otherwise.
