Horrible app. Searches and other functionality are bad. Plus every other time the app opens it can't find any Sonos, so I have to open it, close it, and reopen it every time I want to use it. I am so sick of not being able to control my Sonos because of this horrible app. This app is the reason I started buying other brands of speakers. just an update that it is STILL horrible. half the time it won't connect at all and the other half, it ignores me trying to change the volume.

As of 9/2025, Sonos app has been connecting reliably with devices after several seconds. Connection is stable. UI still isn't my favorite, but it hasn't caused me any hassle lately like it used to. I'd love to manage directly from Spotify which Sonos speakers (groups) are being used. Overall, if recent improvements have been made, they fixed my biggest pain points. 👍

The app used to work really really well for a long time, I would say for about a 2 years come and tell about the last 6 months when it continuously has issues by crashing, not registering the device that's been registered for 3 years, not playing when expected. It's been a bit of a pain to use and since there's no other way to manage the beam without the app, they pretty much have you in a chokehold.

1 year later and the app is still horrible. Open app, music services don't load. Still occasional get no speakers found. and now my sonos 1 Gen 2 just died, which seems to have around a 5 year life span. so even the hardware is poor quality... no more sonos purchases when the rest of my prodcuts go... omg fix this app. my music services dissapear constantly. I can't even change the song.

how is this app still horrible? the app forgot my living room so I went to add it back and the app insists I don't have location services on and it won't go into setup until I turn it on, but it's on. At least the Soundbar has a physical connection to the tv but it is absolutely astounding that after a year, they're still committed to destroying brand trust.

The hardware is awesome. The app, not so much. It's heavily dependent on your system being set up on a single network, which works great for everything that isn't a Sonos Roam. If you have the Roam and take it on the road with you, the app refuses to function if you're sitting on any WiFi network that isn't your home network, such as a work network. I use my Roam via Bluetooth while I'm at work, and it would be nice if I could view the battery status instead of guessing what the charge is.
