About this app

Puffin Web Browser is now subscription-based. In addition to the existing $1/month subscription, two new low-cost prepaid subscriptions are available at $0.25/week and $0.05/day. The exact price is subject to the tax, exchange rate, and Google's pricing policy in each country. Puffin's monthly postpaid subscription offers Android's standard 7-day free trial. Puffin's short-term prepaid subscriptions allow users to pay for Puffin only when they need to use Puffin.

🚀 Wicked Fast: With our cloud servers handling even the most resource-demanding web pages effortlessly, websites can load at incredible speeds.

🔒 Cloud Protection: All Internet traffic from the app to our servers is end-to-end encrypted, therefore making it safe to use public, non-secure Wi-Fi.

🎥 Flash Support: We constantly provide improvements to our servers, and the ability to view Flash content through the cloud.

💰 Data Savings: Puffin uses a proprietary compression algorithm to transmit web data to your device, and can save up to 80% of your bandwidth on regular web browsing. (Please note that streaming Flash content or videos requires more bandwidth than normal usage.)

Features:
• Unparalleled loading speeds
• Fastest JavaScript engine
• Ad Blocker Included
• Mobile & Desktop modes for a full web experience
• Download to cloud capabilities (up to 1GB in size per file)
• Theater mode for Flash videos and games

Okay, for a long time I really loved this app. But these updates have been upsetting. Why do I get and ad when I go to certain websites? It pisses me off, and creeps me out, that it's only a select few. I understand, Puffin employees gotta pay the bills, but god damn I'm sure you can come up with something better than this. Please either make ad distribution more liberal, or remove it. I understand that as a web browser, you look at and sell all my browsing data, but could you do it a bit more quietly? It feels creepy the way it won't play ads on most sites I visit and then BAM, one site generates an ad every time. It feels almost like the engine is trying to direct me toward certain sites, which again is unbelievably creepy. I either want an explanation for why ads appear on certain websites, or a proper, more random feeling, distribution. Thanks! I'd hate to find a browser to replace Puffin after using it for so long. It really is a great tool, and I hope this weird ad thingy can be fixed. :)

In a land of free browsers, there is still a niche market for flash support. However, the pricing model ruins this app. I understand ads on free software, but I usually pay to remove them when that is the option. Unfortunately for Puffin, you can't use this app for more than an hour with ads and you can't pay to remove them without a subscription. I'd be happy to pay a one time fee of 2-5 dollars. There is no way I am paying $2 a month when a free desktop browser works 10 times better.

I've been using puffin for a few years now, never mind the ads or the 2-hour usage limit. I wouldn't mind a single-time fee of $10 to $15 for a premium version from Google, but I won't put my personal card information directly into the app for a recurring charge. If you release a premium version for sale here I would gladly buy, but sadly I'm sure this app will die soon. Worked perfectly before you pushed too hard for subscriptions. EDIT: I've only ever installed the legit version. Cry harder.

Trash. Crashed twice in 5 minutes. Made me watch 2 ads in 20 seconds, then won't let me do anything else without a subscription. Why am I watching ads if I'm still going to be forced to pay screw this browser. Slow as hell, just garbage overall compared to others I've used. The built-in flash player isn't enough of a selling point to overcome the other negatives.

This is why I NEVER update before checking reviews Thanks to other users for the heads up on the tracking. If it ain't broke, I'm not going to try to fix it. Sorry the screwed the folks that unknowingly got snared. I agree with the rest of these folks. If an app need my location, contact list, usage stats etc, I don't need the app. For those of you who value your privacy, check out the NetGuard firewall app, tap "show log" to see how many apps give access to data "management" sites.

First and foremost, I loved this app. Genuinely the only way to really access flash content on mobile. Unfortunately, it's just that. The *only* way. Many other apps attempt to be flash enabled, but tend to fail miserably, and now, this app went from 100% free, down to forcing ads down our throats until we buy a pro version. Illegally making monetization on millions of other people's work. I have no interest in buying the app purely because I used to like it when it's become a major sleazeball app. Was nice while it lasted.
