About this app
what3words is an easy way to identify precise locations. Every 10ft square has been given a unique combination of three words: a what3words address. Now you can find, share and navigate to precise locations using three simple words.
Easy navigation, simple deliveries and more

- Plan exact meet-up locations, simplifying navigation for you and others
- Give car breakdown services your precise location
- Navigate to any destination easily
- Save your favorite memorable spots so you know how to navigate back to them - a viewpoint, waterfall or proposal location

More accurate than street addresses, simpler than GPS coordinates
Street addresses and postcodes aren’t accurate enough to specify exact locations - for navigation, deliveries and more. what3words is a more precise way to do so - and it’s also a more accessible way to communicate location information than latitude/longitude coordinates or GPS - in short, it’s a simple ‘geocode’.
Navigate adventures, big and small
Offline navigation and compatibility with your favorite map apps - like Google Maps, Apple Maps and more - make what3words the perfect tool for daily trips and bigger adventures.
- Walking somewhere unfamiliar? Use what3words to navigate to your precise destination stress-free
- Find the perfect camping spot - and remember how to find it later - by saving the what3words location
- Meetups made simple: help others find hiking trailheads, shop car parks, precise entrances and more by sharing the what3words location
- Navigation couldn’t be easier with the what3words Compass, which guides you straight to where you need to be

City good, country not so good. Taking it doesn't use GPS but instead locating me via multiple phone towers, this works ok in the city where lots of options are great. Head out to the bush where it's more important to have this app and it's a long way off. I spoke to the fire department, they do not trust it and it's why I guess it's not become the norm. They'd rather actual coordinates from the emergency app. I think what3words started off great but without government uptake it's left it sad.

I love what3words, but the app doesn't integrate with Android Auto, so I don't know how I'm supposed to use it to navigate anywhere in my car. You can send a destination to Google Maps by using the phone screen, but that doesn't work when you're in your car. If you send the destination before getting in your car, it doesn't show up in Android Auto. This is their primary use case and it just doesn't work.

I thought this was a great app and a valuable thing to have on my phone. However, over the past few days, despite my not having used it, I'm nearly constantly getting a pop-up that says "what3words keeps stopping". I've written the developer but have not received any response. I hate to uninstall this, but its popping up every minute or two, which is decimating my ability to use my phone for anything useful without interruption. I hope I hear and get remedy from the developers very, very soon.

It's fine, it works and does the job. But as the top comment says, there's too many notifications. This isn't exactly an app you need to use often, so why do I need a random useless notification every few days? It just results in people blocking all notifications from the app every time.

used as a safeguard when running off-road to ensure that, if the worst happens, I can get a very precise location out for help. also used it for treasure hunts and general navigation. if I had one quibble, it is that I can set a target location look at my route and my blue dot approaching the target spot... but if I accidentally do a one finger touch while doing a 2 finger zoom gesture, my target square moves... a "did you mean this" check before moving the target!

After the last update(latest version), it is not possible to paste and type at "Add label" on mobile. The line window is covered and moves up. It is also very difficult to use the search by the first letters of the entry. Only a few search lines appear. It would be good if this could be fixed.
