About this app

Piano Academy is for anyone looking to learn the piano from scratch or those who have prior knowledge and want to continue learning by practicing playing along with their favorite songs.

Piano Academy offers an on-screen touch keyboard so you can start playing immediately. The app also supports MIDI connection, and it can even detect the notes you play if you have an acoustic or electronic piano.

MAIN FEATURES
- Watch tutorial videos introduced to you by your private instructor, teaching you theory topics like notes, the staff, chords, and much more.
- The app listens to every note you play and gives you instant feedback, so you know how to improve.
- Practice playing tons of great tunes by reading real sheet music.
- Play fun games to train your musical hearing, hand coordination, and sense of rhythm.

WHO IS IT FOR?
Piano Academy is suitable for all ages, from kids to adults.

We have designed and built this app from the very beginning to help transform even complete beginners into actual pianists.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
We will teach you how to read notes, so you'll be able to play while reading sheet music. You'll play tons of wonderful classical pieces, as well as contemporary hit songs on your own.

As you progress, you'll learn to play with both hands, play chords, and much more.

Theory topics are introduced to you by your private instructor with the aid of animations and walk-through videos.

You will play fun games designed to train your senses, such as musical hearing, hand coordination, and your sense of rhythm, among other skills.

And the crowning glory is our staff player that shows music notes as you see in real sheet music. The notes are perfectly synced with the background music that will accompany you while playing. In addition, the app listens to every note you play and gives you instant feedback, so you know whether you hit the correct note at the right time.

BOTTOM LINE, you're going to have an enriching, rewarding, and challenging experience, and you're going to love it!

When it comes to the two hand tutorial, it seems to prefer to pick up one hand over the other. For instance, when pressing C with both hands, it may only pick up the left hand and cound the right as a missed note. I'd like to say it could be my keyboard or my phone, but up til this point it has been fine. Don't get me wrong, im messing up plenty 😅 But while learning and making sure im hitting the correct notes the problem persists. Otherwise it is a great tool for beginners 💯

I would've rated this app 5 stars the first 3 days or so. Now It frustrates me. I do believe if you are in the middle of a song when your free 15 minutes are up, it will just start counting notes wrong regardless of whether they're actually correct. This has infuriated me several times now. At first I really thought something was wrong with the app suddenly not registering anymore. I don't know why it can't just tell me when my time is done instead of counting things wrong all of a sudden...

This is a great option for people who can't afford a subscription because it still let's you practice and advance. You can't practice for as long but you have a set amount of time everyday which is a great system. On the Two-Hand Cordination Exercise 2 it did have trouble with registering what the right hand was playing when I played in unison. Unless I slam on the keys or play them separately it doesn't register. That would be something that I would appreciate if it was fixed.

Mostly fantastic! I've learned a lot on this app but I think the app could be improved. My main issue is getting through one portion of a song that gives me trouble. But when I mess up I have to start the whole song over if i want a good score. I wish we could have the ability to slow down, rewind, or select where to start. If I could slow down the hard part and try it again at the normal speed It would be a LOT less frustrating.

Well executed, but has some issues. For one, even though my internet is working perfectly it keeps saying that it doesn't have internet connection and then I have to click try again. This interrupts whatever I'm doing which makes me make mistakes. For two, it's having a hard time hearing my keyboard, it keeps thinking I'm pressing the wrong notes when I'm doing everything right because it can't hear well. I'm just frustrated cause I want it to work well.

I loved the lesson progress with this app, it got moving onto new concepts and skills quicker, and in a better manner then other apps I would say. My only grip is how bare bones the app is, no warm up to do before getting into lessons, no library of songs to learn, just lessons and that's it. This is the main reason why I think that charging 20 bucks a month is ridiculous. I was able to read through 80% of the app on the free 7 day trial. A great app and piano teacher, but not worth a $20 sub.
